Swollen Buds

Cloud dominates the weather today, after some brightness a cool northerly wind brought some showers of rain.
It must have dampened the spirits of the industrious Magpies who now have an upright ring doughnut shaped structure about 18 inches (500 mm) diameter in the Hawthorn tree.
The leaf buds of the Hawthorn are swollen and look to be close to breaking, I would expect to confirm this event in the near future.
