A cool cloudy breezy morning developed into a cool windless wet afternoon. A light mist conceals the view I have of the downland at the edge of the urban fringe.
On a clear day from my upstairs study window I can usually see part of Steepdown to the north west, which rises to 149 metres above sea level, to the north east I can see through to the rise of Mill Hill which stands at 67 metres. Today the mist obscures those views.
The Shoreham Weather site mentioned yesterday apparently has a technical fault with the anemometer and so wind speed is not being recorded.
Looking out into the garden the light rain has allowed beads of water drops to form on the undersides of branches in the shrubbery. The Contorted Hazel Corylus avellana 'contorta' looks particularly attractive bedecked with glistening jewels which hang shimmering until their weight succumbs to gravity.
