Despite figures on the Shoreham Weather site which suggested otherwise, the wind, which has shifted round to the east, was bitterly cold as we walked back from a trip to the local shops at around 3 pm.
The birds are quieter today and seem to be hiding away; somewhere warmer perhaps.
Only the Robin is spending a lot of time in the garden on a sheltered perch overseeing the feeding areas.
I inspected the Hawthorn for the bud burst and I would say it has begun, I shall log my record on the Woodland Trust phenology site where first and last annual nature events are collated and mapped. This gives an ongoing indication of trends such as climate change.
