Lancing Ring

The sun has put in a very welcome appearance and the temperature has climbed and summounted the magic 10 degree Celsius. Unfortunately the wind has knocked it back down to feel a couple of degrees cooler.
With a little time to spare I paid a visit to the the Lancing Ring Local Nature Reserve. Signs of spring were apparent, the Blackthorn will be in flower by the middle of the coming week if temperatures stay up. One or two blossoms had already emerged.
Sweet Violets Viola odorata were in full flower on several areas of woodland floor and the air was filled with birdsong. While in the open a Skylark Alauda arvensis. held centre stage, in the woodland the noisy Great tits had command.
