Rattus norvegicus

Weather has been very similar to yesterday, the cold wind still coming in from a north-easterly direction. The temperature is around 7C but a wind chill is causing it feel nearer 3C.
Taking in the view from my upstairs office window, a movement in the neighbours garden caught my eye. I thought I glimpsed a cats tail but a few seconds later it was revealed as belonging to a Brown Rat Rattus norvegicus.
It had been attracted by some spilt seed under the bird feeders in that garden.
An adjoining garden has a number of pet animals kept in hutches outside, it is known that in previous years spilt food has attracted Rats to it.
