Sunday and Monday followed the warm weather pattern of the previous days with highs of 20 C. on each of the days.
Tuesday:Today was also warm and humid. A weather system is moving in and some thundery rainfall is expected this evening.
My first Speckled Wood butterfly of the year was seen today, it was flying in an area of a garden which mimicked it's favoured woodland setting near a large tree and shrubs overhanging an area of shaded turf. Close by two Holly Blues danced with each other.
A glimpse was seen of another butterfly which I suspect was a Small Tortoiseshell.
A curious event occurred close to my parked van. A small bird which turned to be a Zebra Finch landed on some weedy ground next to me and proceeded to peck at seeds it found there.
Zebra Finch are popular cage birds that are noted by ornithology groups when they have occasionally been found in the wild.
This bird seemed to be slightly disheveled and may have had a lucky escape from an attack by a predator of some kind.
