Catch Up

I have some catching up to do..
The rain did arrive last week and the last days of April were unsettled and showery. Which perhaps adds weight to the old tale about spring weather that goes something like 'In Like a Lamb out like a Lion, In like a Lion out like a Lamb', this saying is normally applied to March but April has certainly been a month of mixed weather.
After a mostly fine Saturday and Sunday. the Bank Holiday weather lived up to tradition and promptly turned overcast, breezy and then wet for a time, clearing by evening.
Tuesday: A storm on an exceptionally deep low pressure system crossed the country bringing strong gales and heavy rain.

Little notable wildlife to write about. The interesting things in the garden are the discovery that I have at least one Newt in the pond. It looked a pale yellowish colour from above and if not moving could be mistaken for a grass shaped leaf. This suggests it could be a female Palmate Newt Triturus helveticus. I rather think it is going to be a juvenile Smooth Newt Triturus vulgaris
The other is that a Buff-tailed BumbleBee has made a nest inside the air-brick on the back wall of the house.
It is regularly seen as it arrives back from, or leaves on foraging trips to unseen destinations.
