Hunting with the Pack

I have been watching four pairs of what I believe to be Wolf Spiders Pardosa lugubris acting out their courtship rituals.
They are on a Birch log around the edge of my garden pond.
The male draws himself up close to the female raises his body to be higher than the female and rapidly taps the wood beneath him with his front two legs and as he does so he (for want of a better word) 'wiggles' his palps. The female who presumably hears the tapping through her feet, remains nonchalant or makes a quick darting attack if she thinks he is being too forward.
Maybe the equivalent of a slapped face !

A rival male taking an interest in a female was quickly seen off by the attendant male in a scuffle of the two males in combat mode, in a second it was over and the loser left the arena.
