The period of showery weather finally cleared away and become dry and at times pleasantly warm and sunny.
Today was the warmest day of the year so far reaching 19.7 C. at Shoreham.
Perhaps corresponding to the temperature a Holly Blue butterfly was seen in the garden.
Small White butterflies are fairly frequent and can be seen at almost any time when working on the allotment.
A Small Tortoiseshell was seen two days ago on one vacant plot where a swathe of Red-dead Nettle put on a colourful show.
Tadpoles in the garden pond are swimming actively but haven't yet drawn the attention of Blackbirds who are usually partial to them.
A clearance of the garden shed revealed a number of large, leggy spiders and have been identified to Genus level as Tegenaria and Steatoda. The species are proposed but not fully confirmed. These are the House Spider and Comb Footed varieties.
After the disturbance in the shed an interesting Ladybird was seen on a fence post nearby. It was a Kidney-spot which has two large red spots on it's black wing case.
