A dozen heads of Pied Wagtails bobbed up and down in the ankle length grass of the playing field for a school in Old Salts Farm Road.
In early afternoon recently these (possibly immigrant from northern UK) black, white and grey birds where conspicuous as they hunted for insects in the outer perimeter of the grass sports area.

The Pied wagtails or "Dishwashers" are all over the roads in Shoreham in winter, and outside my house, but not so many seem to be around in Lancing. Many more, by a hundredfold in town in winter.
