A sticky wicket - A funguide to cricket

We were nearly stumped when trying to identify this Cricket found in the chalkpit area of Lancing Ring.

After some searching, the most likely match was the male Dark Bush Cricket Pholidoptera griseoaptera. An umpire's view would be welcome on this.

In the woodland a variety of fungi were on display including Golden and Shaggy Pholiota, Puffball, Bracket and Sulphur Tuft.

I believe this one is a Golden Pholiota that is exuding sap from the host tree. It seems to serve as a sticky trap for insects that land on it

Hello Ray,

Do you know the scientific name for the Golden Pholiota?

Is it Pholiota aurivelli. I have just looked it up on my own web page.

I spelt it incorrectly. It should be

Pholiota aurivella
