Marmalade

It is now apparent to me that the annual influx of Marmalade hoverflies Episyrphus balteatus is in full swing.
The first sign this morning was a large group of aproximately twenty on my Fennel plant in the front garden. A walk past shrubs of flowering Eunymus japonica in the neigbourhood revealed that there are many more actively feeding on the nectar rich flowers.
