McIntyres Field - Snails Everywhere

Thousands of snail shells were noticed on the ground along the edge of the mown path of McIntyres Field. Kentish Snail Monacha cantiana is suggested as a probable ID. On further inspection they appeared to be live animals but withdrawn inside the shells.

In light drizzle a few butterflies braved the weather staying close to the Bramble thickets. Among them this Gatekeeper

Others seen were about six Meadow Brown in one small area, a Marbled White and a Comma
In the nearby Allotment gardens what I believe is a Field Grasshopper Chorthippus brunneus sat poised on a potato leaf

Within inches of the grasshopper a Ladybird larva has gone into metamorphosis. There were many more of these dispersed on vegetable leaves over ours and surrounding plots.
