On the 7th of September we were astonished to see a Sparrowhawk had landed on the garden fence less than ten feet from the lounge window. It's attention was focused on the hanging feeders in the neighbours garden. It stood on the spot for a good two or three minutes and then flew off eastwards.
It appeared again the following day and was stood on the roof of the shed which overlooks the neighbours bird feeding station, it paused briefly before heading off in the same direction as before.
On the 10th, after the early morning rain had eased a Robin appeared in view and could be heard singing from the branches of the Hawthorn tree, a sure sign that autumn is approaching.
A pair of Blue-tits have been taking sunflower seeds from the garden feeders together with the ten to fifteen Sparrows that regularly visit.
Up to date, the 12th, an unusual sight of two Comma butterflies on the Buddleia bush.
I rarely see more than one in any location.
