Autumnal Butterflies

In a fine spell of weather a Comma butterfly has been a regular daily visitor to the garden during the week up to Sunday 19th. It seemed to prefer the yellow Rudbeckia as a place to settle although occasionally it went to the Buddleia. A Painted Lady has made brief visits to the Verbena bonariensis and Buddleia.
A Hummingbird-hawk Moth has been seen feeding from the Verbena often late in the afternoon.
The weather has now collapsed to strong winds and showery rain.
