Snowday ?

At 9:30 AM on Leap Day there is no snow falling yet in the sunny garden but as I look north the Downs are shrouded in a thick grey cloud which must surely contain frozen precipitation.
The Met-Office severe weather noticeboard had this message from Saturday:-
'The Met Office continues to expect that locally heavy snow showers will run across parts of Southeast England tonight and for a time tomorrow. Some moderate accumulations of snow will result (5-10cm), primarily to the east of London. Dangerous driving conditions are expected.'
As we are about 15 miles west of the Greenwich meridian, the chances of snow seem slightly reduced.
The air temperature is hovering at around 3C but a 17 mph northerly breeze is giving a wind chill effect of -2C.
4:00 PM The promise of snow looked as if it would be realised when a bank of grey cloud appeared overhead, blotting out what had been warm sunshine. Warm enough to sit in a warm spot without a coat on. 6.9C was recorded at Shoreham as the sun passed through it's zenith.
The cloud turned out to be a thin band of light sleet that that turned the air cold and passed within minutes. The suns warmth recovered as the sky cleared.
