This seems to follow the trend of previous years; the early hot weather in May and then a cool wet and windy time in June. Just in time for Wimbledon, which wouldn't be the same if it was sunny all the time. I think the wind was rather stronger this year than usual.
A lot of people who indulge in the antiquated practice of 'bedding out' will be nursing some sorry looking annuals.
My garden is a collection of shrubs and hardy perennials which were mostly unaffected by the inclemency.
The recent rediscovery of insects has given me new purpose when out in some natural area. I now look at everything that is small with six legs. If I haven't photographed it I will attempt to do so. If it hasn't got six legs I will still look, it will likely be some other invertebrate that requires attention.
With patience a lot of 'flighty' insects can be captured on camera.
Our Bumblebees are one example, they are not exactly quick movers but still tricky to get images of.
I wanted a picture of one entering the nest hole and have just managed it with a little help from my daughter who held the camera for twenty minutes trying to get a bee in shot!.
