A resident of local flats where i work in the gardens drew my attention to a largish brown beetle on the tarmac of the drive. On inspection I confirmed it as a Summer Chafer (Amphimallon solstitiale).
I reassured her that this would not try and eat her woodwork and released it into some undergrowth.
The Beetle had probably recently mated nearby.

does anyone know what i can use on the summer chafer. if they were in my garden i would leave them alone but i have found 8 of the little critters in my bedroom in the last 3 weeks. 7 of them looked a little docile, maybe almost dead but beetle no. 8 was flying round my bedroom last night - very much alive! not very nice...
if anyone has any helpful tips please email me ; Ttjo1969@aol.com
many thanks
