Wednesday:
A great improvement in the temperature, climbing into double figures around the mid teens and a show of much needed sunshine. Spring is knocking.
I was not able to seek out the likely haunts of early butterflies but noted the activities of a Buff-tailed Bumblebee on the early Dafodils and two Honey Bees on the Rosemary in the garden.
A male Blackbird was spotted with a beak full of dried grass, suggesting it was looking to begin nest building or perhaps as an offering to a potential mate.
Magpies are ever present and pose a constant threat to the success of any smaller bird raising a brood locally.
